Description

This is the Aurora Borealis at maximum volume.

The Sun may have ejected a huge mass of matter and energy to have created this incredible display.  In central Canada, the Aurora are somewhat common, and seen when solar activity is high.

This evening was exceptional, I haven't seen this kind of activity for 30 years.

Around 2:45 am this morning (November 3)at Sandilands park, we were minding our own business and doing some DSO imaging and the Northern skies Aurora began to swell and expand, reaching over head.

At that point the Aurora began to strobe!  Rapid activation and deactivation of the preexisting patches of light, and then rapidly filled our entire sky except for 20 degrees of free sky to the south.

This image is shot to the East,  and reminds me of a snarling Lion's head ..kind of.

Thanks for looking.
